Courtney A. Woods is an emerging global leader. Ms. Woods has a wide array of skills and range of interests including education, criminal justice, policy, and law.

Policy Analysis Research

Given her interdisciplinary social science background, Ms. Woods has covered a range of topics in her research.

Most recently, her research has covered black girls' experiences in public schools. Woods has approached this work by making policy recommendations to reduce the amount of girls who are at-risk of being affected by the school to confinement pipeline, and implementing promising pedagogical practices to support girls who are already in-risk in youth prisons. Her research reflects her efforts to reduce racial disparities in educational attainment by closing opportunity gaps.

Financial Development

Ms. Woods has launched both personal and institutional financial campaigns, amounting to about $50,000.00 in funds raised.

She served as the finance chair for the first ever university-wide black graduation in Harvard's history, the Inaugural Harvard Black Commencement of 2017. In this role, she raised nearly $30,000.00.

While working with TRIO Student Support Services at Michigan State University, Ms. Woods secured a grant in the amount of $10,000.00 to offset the costs for low-income, first generation college students studying abroad.

Consulting and Training

Ms. Woods has an extensive background in facilitation and training.

She has consulted with Phillips Brooks House Association, the oldest student-run non-profit organization in the U.S. Ms. Woods was responsible for piloting a restorative justice model in the Summer Urban Program, which is composed of 13 camp sites and serves over 800 youth across Boston and Cambridge.
